The Certified Pest Control Operators Association of Georgia (CPCO of Ga) held its annual Fall Conference Oct. 3-5, 2018, at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA. It brought pest control professionals throughout Georgia and beyond together for a fun, innovative and educational experience at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The strategic partnerships that we have been able to build through CPCO of Georgia support our ability to create innovative product offerings that better meet the needs of pest management professionals. 

Highlights from the event included keynote speaker, Dr. Austin Frishman; pace car rides; a P.E.S.T. Relief International fundraiser; a pit crew competition; and a networking gala.

FPMA Region 4 (Brevard County) teamed with PEST Relief, Real Fleet Solutions, Mattress Safe, Ashleys Furniture and other Allied members to present a Volunteer REST initiative at the Brevard Rescue Mission in Melbourne FL. A group of 21 volunteers from several Pest Control and Allied member companies worked at the missions new building and accomplished over 130 hours of donated labor.

Outside the volunteers cleaned and raked the grounds, trimmed overgrown trees and shrubs and stained a staircase and landing for a second story apartment. They also were able to completely furnish and set up a one bedroom apartment. New beds and bedding were provided by Ashleys and Mattress Safe and assembled and installed by FPMA volunteers. Complete with everything from bath towels to pots, pans and dishes in the kitchen the apartment was ready to inspect and occupy by the end of the day. Chachi Arriste, Brevard Rescue Missions Facility Director told us “It would take me three weeks to accomplish what you all did in just a day!”

Brevard Rescue Mission provides safe, clean apartments for single moms in transition from homelessness. Completely private and community funded the mission provides career and financial training so families which enter the program are able to leave self-sufficient and confidant.

“We spent a day and changed lives” said Elliot Zace, FPMA Region Four Director, and a driving force bringing FPMA and PEST Relief International together to sponsor volunteer days. It is our hope that the remaining FPMA regions (16 in all) will adopt a worthy facility in the region and continue spreading “empathy in action” throughout Florida. The FPMA Board of Directors is forwarding their intent to counsel to insure future initiatives meet the criteria set forth in the bylaws.
